Worthington Kilbourne Weekly News
Week of September 13, 2021
As we reflect over the past 18 months we can recall times where student activities were severely limited or non-existent. To open the school year we have seen the return of many vibrant student activities and community events, most notably the Worthington rivalry football game where the football team and band performed, and the WKHS students, parents, and community showed up in large numbers and with great class!
Another headline event that is on the horizon is Homecoming. Our WKHS Student Council is excited to announce our Homecoming Dance for Saturday, October 2. As a precaution we are planning the dance to occur outdoors in our athletic stadium. The dance will commence at 7:30 p.m. and it will end at 10:00 p.m. With the dance being outdoors some things will be different. We do not have the ability to control the weather. With it being October, the weather could be cool and we hope students will be prepared for the temperature to drop throughout the dance. Typically, we have a coat check at our dances, but we will forgo this service to allow students to keep their jackets with them.
Masks are encouraged
Social distancing, when possible
Shoes must be flat; no high-heels (wedges are permitted as long as the sole is flat the whole length of the shoe)
Concessions will be available for snacks and drinks
Purchased food must be consumed in the concession area or the stadium bleachers (only a portion of the bleachers will be used for seating)
Restroom facilities will be available
The high school administration will monitor the weather and make a determination for the outside dance no later than 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 2. This will be communicated to students and parents through Blackboard. This is the same platform we use to send our school newsletters.
More details will be coming from the Student Council in the near future.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
Josh Almanson, Assistant Principal / jalmanson@wscloud.org / 614-450-6400

A Message from Columbus Public Health
Vaccines protect children from serious and preventable diseases – and all K-12 students must be up-to-date on all required vaccines entering the new school year. Students with an incomplete immunization record 14 days after the start of the school year will not be able to attend classes. The exact date will vary based on the first day of classes for each school or district.
Parents are encouraged to contact their healthcare provider to make sure that their child is up to date on their vaccinations. If for any reason parents cannot get into their doctor on time, Columbus Public Health has an Immunization Clinic at 240 Parsons Ave. where students can receive their vaccines, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. Vaccines are offered at Columbus Public Health’s immunization clinic on a walk-in basis. No appointment is necessary.

Chromebooks available for all students
For any student that missed their opportunity to pick up a Chromebook during schedule pick-up, they are still available. Please have your student stop at the library during the school day and we will have one issued to them. These Chromebooks will be used as our secure devices during any state testing. Also, the units do have filters to deter students from accessing certain information. Parents can sign up for alerts for web searches, as well.
Don’t forget to bring your charged Chromebook
to school every day!
If you have any Chromebook questions or issues, please see
