SAT Information for Seniors
For seniors who have not yet taken the SAT and still wish to do so, MCPS will be providing additional support with test fees and transportation for the November and December SAT, for seniors only. Although many colleges and universities are not requiring the SAT or are test-optional, seniors still needing to test are encouraged to take advantage of these additional SAT dates and the MCPS support that is being offered. If you are interested in taking the SAT in November or December, please fill out this google form by 3 p.m. on Monday, October 12. We will then be back in touch with additional details.
Please note: The November 7 and December 5 SAT are national test administrations administered by the College Board. These are only offered in select test centers, which may not be the students’ home school. More information can be found at https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat/register
The late registration deadline for the November 7 SAT is October 27, 2020. The registration deadline for the December 5 SAT is November 8, 2020.

Live Virtual Lesson Absence Form
NOTE: This is not an excuse note. Please view this brief video for details on completing this form.
Students are expected to attend all live virtual learning classes in which they are enrolled. However, in some instances, this may not be possible due to illness or extenuating circumstances. Students may then access the recording of the class to engage in the daily learning during an alternate time within 72 hours of the absence. Students/Parents/Guardians may then submit a Live Virtual Lesson Absence Form to document that they engaged in the lesson and to request the unexcused absence to be reconciled to Present. If extenuating circumstances exist, parents/guardians are encouraged to communicate with the school’s administration ahead of time. The Live Virtual Lesson Absence Form must be completed for each documented absence.
The Live Virtual Lesson Absence Form link is located in the upper left corner of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School homepage.
Recorded Lessons and Breakout Rooms
Teachers will be recording lessons in order to support families and students, create flexibility in accessing learning experiences when attending live instruction is a barrier, and enhance the opportunity to review lesson content and resources.
When students first log in, their video and audio is off by default. If students should not be recorded, they should leave these off.
Recordings are protected, available only to students through a protected myMCPS site, unavailable for download, and will delete after 72 hours.
We recognize that even with these protections there may be students or families who do not want their children’s images or voices to be captured. If you would like to have your student opt out of being in the recording, they should keep their video off in each class from the start of the school year.
Parents/guardians were asked to indicate an opt out in the ParentVue portal by September 11, 2020. Parents who wish to change their selection must contact their grade level administrator for next steps.
It is anticipated that all B-CC teachers will be using small group breakout rooms during instruction. Ground rules regarding these breakout rooms will be provided to students and parents.

Community Resources
Below is information regarding food/grocery access beyond the MCPS school meal sites:
Food Assistance Resource Map: The Montgomery County Food Council created an interactive map of food assistance providers and benefits application assistance sites in Montgomery County. It is searchable by location, food assistance type, accessibility and many other special features. This resource can give principals and families a quick view of local resources in their area. The information indicates where, when and how to access the resources. **We would caution parents and staff supporting parents to pay particular attention to how one qualifies to access food as some sites state requirements.
Weekend Bag Program: MCPS, Manna Food Center, and Women Who Care Ministries are distributing weekend backpacks with groceries to the families of MCPS students each Friday. The location of distribution sites and times are listed at the bottom of the webpage.
