INFO @ ALTA VISTA
SAFETY BINDERS TO OFFICE
Please send any red safety binders to the office on Monday. These will be in your classroom if you were assigned to one of our safety teams last year.
COUGAR PRIDE ASSEMBLY - WEDNESDAY
Thank you for sharing your Cougar Pride information with Leslie. She has sent out emails to parents and has prepared certificates. Please stop by her office and add your signature to the award. If parents ask, let them know that it will be on the primary playground and that we'll begin around 1:00. We still need everyone to begin heading over to the playground at the end of lunch so that we can be in place and ready to get started. We'll have some cones out to help define the seating area.
PARENT REQUESTS & PAPERWORK
If parents ask you to fill out questionnaires or rating scales that will be shared with a doctor or outside consultant, we need to have Exchange of Information paperwork on file. It is a simple form in which the parents state that we can communicate with the individual. I've attached a copy to the newsletter, but you can also get one from the office or Caitlin. The completed form needs to be returned to Vicki.
If parents request that a consultant comes in to do an observation, that must be arranged through the office. District protocol requires that Caitlin or I be in the classroom during an observation. FYI - Most visits are limited to 20-30 minutes, but arrangements can be made for more extensive observations.
INTERMEDIATE BATHROOMS
We are seeing a rise in vandalism (writing on the walls, etc.) in the intermediate bathrooms. It seems to be happening during class time. We need third, fourth, and fifth grade teachers to keep a log of any time when students are outside of the room during class time. A simple sign in/out sheet with names and times is perfect. Feel free to let your students know the reason we have to keep track.
GATE LETTERS
Unfortunately, the GATE letters that parents received has led some to believe that we have a separate materials/curriculum for their students. If asked, please let parents know that we provide differentiated learning and small group instruction to meet the needs of our GATE students, as well as all of our students. You might want to be prepared to share more details of what that looks like, especially in Math and Language Arts.
PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES
Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for November 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 14. Please remember that conferences should not be scheduled on Wednesdays due to collaboration time. This is especially important on November 6th, as we will be having a Writers Workshop training that day.
DISTRICT OFFICE NEWS AND REMINDERS
The KDS for grades 3-8 (ELA and Math) and the Math pre-assessment for grades K and 2 were due Friday, September 13th into Illuminate. 1st grade math is due October 11th.
We'll be discussing data at an upcoming staff meeting, so please be sure your information is complete.
