MMS Weekly Update

March 14, 2015

Congratulations to our 8th grade band!

Our 8th grade band received a Superior rating this week at the NC Music Performance Assessment. This is like a NC Final Exam for band. Mr. White has been working very hard with his students, and this is a great honor for our kids. Please be sure to congratulate an 8th grade band member as it's a team effort!

Good luck to Ms. Graney, Ms. DP, and Ms. Fitz as they go present at this conference on Monday and Tuesday of this week! Their presentation is on student focused learning through Professional Learning Communities.

Reminder to Staff: Responsible Use Policy

If you allow your students to have a morning snack due to a late lunch schedule, the students should be not be eating or drinking while their laptops are open or out on their desk. This violates the MGSD RUP. Please plan your class snack time during a short break or paper/pencil activity.

Extra Special Learning this week!

On Friday, many of our math classes did some extra engaging activities with PI DAY!! I only saw one 7th grade student literally skipping down the hallway after sugar overload in Ms. Hensler's class, so overall it seemed to go well. Kudos to the brave math teachers for allowing all those complex carbs in their class! Also, there were some very cool #digitallearningday activities on Friday! Thank you to those that stepped out of their comfort zones and were extra BRAVE! Ms. McComas's chorus students also continued their #bebrave mission this year with an outstanding performance at the Mooresville Artist Guild on Friday night! Also, thank you to the cool activities planned for Tuesday's laptop visit. Our next visit is coming on April 14th.

7th grade Basketball

Today both 7th grade basketball teams won the first round of the tournament! What a dynamic duo we have in Coach Foushee and Coach Lowry! The boys will play in the semifinals on Monday at 6 and girls on Tuesday at 4:30.

Leadership Team Meeting on Wednesday

If you have any items from the floor, please let your leadership representatives know. We haven't met since January as our February meeting was cancelled due to snowmageddon. Thank you!
