News from WCS I October 19, 2018
We hope that you are enjoying the format of our newsletters this year. With the second newsletter of each month, we will be providing grade-level updates relative to curriculum, instruction, and assessment. We have several updates we are excited to share with you this month! We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to all of the parents and guardians that were able to help us out by chaperoning on the recent Grade 4 field trips to the State House and Grade 5 field trips to Saugus Iron Works. We are also looking forward to seeing you at Parent/Teacher conferences that are scheduled on November 1 and November 8.
It feels a bit soon to talk about next year, but we have a lot to look forward to and are busy planning for some big changes. I wanted to provide some general updates to ensure we are all on the same page. As you know, WCS will transition into a Grade 5 and 6 school next year and that will produce several changes. A parent recently asked me about start/end times of the school day and I wanted to officially share this plan with the school community. Our bell schedule will sync with Windham Middle School: 7:40 a.m. - 2:15 p.m. We will share buses for arrival/dismissal with WMS while GBS will have its own independent bus schedule separate from other schools in the District. On Thursday evening, October 25, I will be presenting the WCS School Improvement Plan and proposed budget for next year to the Windham School Board. I will continue to provide planning updates as we progress through the year.
