Principal's Message
Where did October go?? The weather has reminded us of the impending winter season and we look forward to all the things November has coming. Our grade 8s will be going to Camp Muskoka for some bonding, outdoor education and plain old fun! We will honour Remembrance day with our own Vianney assembly. November 21-25 is Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week and we have some great things planned to remind us of our relationships and the importance of being a friend.
This month we also celebrate the virtue of conscience. As we head toward Remembrance day, this is a great reminder that we should be reflective, supportive and present in our relationships and the events that allow us the freedom we enjoy and the ability to appreciate the struggles of others. We hope that we all consciously choose to be good people and do our best in all that we do.
It is with pride that we announce that Mr. Quintana has taken on the Comprehensive Math Strategy Special Assignment Teacher role in our board and will be on secondment to two other schools for the remainder of the year. We wish him luck and perseverance as he spreads his personality, knowledge and Vianney way to other schools in need. We look forward to his return! We welcome Ms. Fiorelli who will be filling the position in the grade 7 classroom for the rest of the year.
This month we will also be wishing Mrs. Cunningham and Mrs. Cecile many blessings as they go on maternity leave, adding to their growing families. We welcome Ms. Revoredo who will be filling in for the FDK position.
Finally, our superintendent Mrs. Steer has taken on a new portfolio at the board and so we welcome Mr. Storey as our new superintendent. Mr. Storey comes to us from the Brampton, Caledon, Dufferin, Malton Family of Schools. We wish them all much success in their new roles and look forward to Mr. Storey's leadership.
M. Daddabbo
VIRTUE OF THE MONTH - Conscience
Therefore I do my best always to have a clear conscience toward God and all people. (Acts 24:16)
Conscience…is the voice of God within us. A developed conscience helps us make decisions that support truly loving relationships. God helps us to choose to be good people.
November 11th we commemorate the bravery of our Canadian soldiers who gave their lives so that we may live in peace.
Walking Forward Together - A St. Roch and Vianney Video Collaboration
This video reflects our work in supporting students and “Walking Forward Together” as we get to know the students before us everyday. We know the importance of the student-teacher relationship and its impact on student achievement and well-being. This is exceptionally portrayed through this video filmed and directed by our St. Roch media team.
Special thanks to St. Roch students ,Deanna Ratzki and Braeden Mizal and to their teachers Mario Antognetti and Peter Fujiwara for their support in creating this extraordinary visual testament to the power of relationship between teacher and student and the fundamental core or our work: knowing our students and supporting them to be the best they can be.

Halloween Dance a thon Fundraiser
Our Hallowe'en Dance-a-Thon Fundraiser was a huge success!! Thanks to YOU our awesome Vianney school community, we were able to raise over $11,000!! Every penny will be going back to students through enriched academic programs and support the Vianney student experience at school through the arts, technology, field trips, literacy, etc.
A BIG thank you to our parent council, Mrs. Celenza, Mrs. Catarino and Mrs. Vitorino for all of their hard work and countless hours they put in to support this fundraiser.
Way to go Vianney!
Cold Weather
It is generally accepted that when the wind chill factor drops below -25 C, students should not go outside for recess. Dufferin-Peel CDSB policy uses a wind chill factor of -25C as the determining temperature (modified recess at -20 C). With the arrival of colder weather, students are reminded to dress appropriately (hats, mitts, etc.) and to wear all clothing that they came to school in. For health reasons, we ask that students have indoor shoes that are kept at school. Another reason for indoor shoes is that in the event of an emergency evacuation, students will not have the opportunity to put boots on. Please make sure clothing is labeled - this will help with lost items
