Tech Tips You'll Love

The beginning of a new year often brings a renewed sense of purpose and drive. With this in mind, the January edition of TTYL is focused on YOU. This month you will find resources that are teacher centered and that will give you a chance to expand your learning.

All About Google

Gmail and Google Drive have become tools that we use everyday in our district. If you wish you were more proficient with all things Google, take a look at the training options found here. You can learn about a variety of Google products by participating in short lessons that are at your skill level. You can complete these lessons at your convenience and review the material as often as necessary.

Teachers First

Teachers First is a free teacher resource website offered by The Source for Learning (a non-profit learning and technologies corporation). Teachers First has been around since 1998 and has continued to grow and evolve over the years. This website is a one-stop shop for all grade levels and subject areas. Teachers can find lesson plans, resource ideas, featured sites and much more on the Teachers First site. Make sure to sign up for a free account and register for their weekly email. Each week a list of fabulous websites will be sent straight to your email.

Extend Your Learning

There are many great websites that provide online learning experiences. One such site is Coursera. provides hundreds of free courses on a variety of topics. While many of their courses may be more involved than the average person is looking for (Microeconomics Principles anyone?) there are education related courses such as Teaching Character and Creating Positive Classrooms.

Class Central is another cite that provides courses for teachers. Click here to access the education related courses. You can click on "courses" to see other subject areas that are available.

Top 100

For those of you who like to know what was at the top of the charts in 2014, visit Tech and Learning's blog about the Top 100 Sites and Apps in 2014. The article can be found here. How many of these do you already use? A great goal for the new year would be to learn about and use some of these sites and apps this school year.
