HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!
Hello Most Blessed Sacrament Church Family,
It's that time of year when we all take some time out from our hectic schedules to relax, eat, and share precious time with our loved ones and close friends. However, in the midst of our yearly Thanksgiving routine of traveling, preparing food, and hosting family and friends, my hope and prayer is that we all take the time to truly give thanks to God. As I began going down my own list of the many things that I am thankful to God for, God began to press upon my heart the power of a Thank You.
Last week I was feeling really down about some of the work I had recently done, and I felt like the work had gone un-noticed, and that those for whom the work was done for, did not appreciate it. However, I was surprised when one of those people called me in for a one on one meeting, and during that meeting they told me how much they appreciated my work. They ended the meeting with a short litany of praise of my work and a resounding THANK YOU!!! I cannot explain how wonderful I felt when I heard the words ‘Thank You’, but I immediately felt motivated to do even more than what I had previously done. I felt noticed, I felt appreciated, and as a result I became motivated to do even more than I had done before.
Now, I know that we're not, necessarily, supposed to do things for recognition, praise, and/or a thank you. However, the power of a thank you is undeniable. It lifts you up, it highlights the inherent value of an individual, and most of all it lets someone know that you care.
I believe that when we tell God thank you, God feels all of those same emotions that I felt that day and at that moment. God feels honored, God feels our praise, and God knows that we appreciate Him. As a result, God seeks many more ways to pour out joy, peace, and love in our lives, and it all stemmed from something as simple as a heartfelt and genuine thank you.
So, let us all Thank God today!!! Together, let us tell God thank you from the deepest depths of our souls for the countless blessings that He has bestowed upon us. This also brings to remembrance something that my earthly Father would always tell me to do. He would say to me, "Lyndon, count your blessings each day, and that will take your mind off of the things that are not necessarily where you desire for them to be." Let's count our blessings today and say Thank You. God will hear us and consume us in a divine peace that surpasses all understanding.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!
