Returning to a normal schedule, and a normal school day, is important and remains our focus as we plan for the 2021-2022 school year. As we did last school year, we will be in continuous communication with the Genesee County Health Department and will be reviewing any future recommendations and/or mandates from both the state and federal entities (MDHHS and CDC) with our legal counsel.
Below are the provisions that will be in place as we begin the 2021-2022 school year. Please know, as we have since March of 2020, we must be flexible and ready for any potential changes that may come our way due to COVID-19 issues within the county.
Face masks, regardless of vaccination status, are optional for students, staff and visitors, however, under the current conditions, we are encouraging unvaccinated staff and students to wear masks.
Anyone on a school bus, regardless of vaccination status, must wear a face mask, pursuant to a federal order from the CDC.
Physical distancing, regardless of vaccination status, is no longer required, however, we will be taking precautions as much as possible.
Individuals testing positive for COVID-19 will be isolated and will need to quarantine, per the Genesee County Health Department.
Capacity limits, inside or outside, are no longer required.
COVID-19 testing for students, staff, or visitors is not required.
COVID-19 testing for students participating in MHSAA programs is no longer required.
All buildings and classrooms will be cleaned daily and sanitized on a regular basis.
We will be offering a virtual option for families. Please contact the Board office (810-591-4700) ASAP if you are interested in the virtual option.
Reflecting on the past school year, it is refreshing to know that our school community worked together to provide our students a safe and positive learning experience despite the circumstances. Thank you again for your support and your part in fostering an amazing learning environment.
Sincerely,
Dr. Adam Hartley
Summer School 2021
FAPS Tech Department : Summer Project Summary and Status
Chromebook Collection: We have collected a large majority of the Chromebooks that were borrowed by families during the pandemic. Those that have been collected have been returned to the classroom carts in preparation for the 2021-22 school year. We still have approximately 280 Chromebooks that have not been returned, and will be needed for the fall. If you still have a Chromebook, please return it to the Administration Office at 3100 Owen Rd, during our normal summer business hours.
Security Camera Expansion: Our elementary buildings and Ellen St were recipients of a Michigan State Police grant for additional security cameras, prior to the pandemic. Installation of these additional 50 plus cameras is nearing completion, and will provide complete perimeter coverage at all of our pre K - 5th grade campuses. The installation process was completed by the FAPS Technology Department, which resulted in 100% of the grant being used for cameras.
FHS Auditorium Sound: After a lengthy delay in obtaining all of the necessary equipment, due to the microchip shortage, we are set to complete the final stage of the FHS auditorium sound system upgrade. This final stage will begin the week of July 26th, and is set to be 100% completed that same week. We are excited to use all of this new technology for all upcoming performances! This was paid through the 2014 Bond fund!
Board meeting YouTube broadcast: We have also begun broadcasting all FAPS Board of Education meetings on YouTube. The Technology Department is continuing to research and make improvements to these broadcasts moving forward. To view the broadcasts live, or to watch a previous broadcast, visit the Fenton Area Public Schools Board of Education YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaXwEj_XFZNp3cFo-CLLEPw/featured
