Up to 28,000 species are expected to completely become extinct within the next quarter of the century if the rate of deforestation continues.
Deforestation is a one of the main threats to the species that live in the jungles, but it isn't the only threat. Poachers and wildlife smugglers are easily other threats to these animals. Orangutans are found buried alive under ground and attacked by machetes. Over the last twenty years, roughly over 50,000 orangutans have died from deforestation. Ninety percent of orangutan habitat has been destroyed.

Forests cover over 30% of earth's land, but in an estimated of 100 years, there will be no more rainforests. Agriculture is the leading cause of deforestation, with lessens the natural remedies in the rain forest which can be used as medicines.
