Congratulations to Emerson Barrett for being chosen for Buckhorn High School's DAR Good Citizen Award. Emerson recently attended a ceremony where area recipients were honored. The DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest, created in 1934, is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship.This award recognizes and rewards individuals who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. T.O.C. ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Every year the Athlete of the Year campaign, powered by Huntsville Hospital Sports Center,
TOC Sports and D1 Sports, looks for high school senior student athletes who excel
on the field, in the classroom and in our community.
From August to April, a panel of judges selects one Athlete of the Week. Applicants must be a high school senior, have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and display a history of athletic and academic accomplishments, as well as community/civic involvement.
At the end of the school year, all weekly winners are invited to a banquet held in their honor.
Two students are selected as Athletes of the Year and will each receive a $1,000 scholarship.

The Round Up Program was started by The Schools Foundation and Huntsville Utilities to support local public school systems. The Schools Foundation is a funding partner of Madison County Schools. The more residential and commercial locations that round up, the more funding we can receive. Estimates show that if just half of the residential Huntsville Utilities users rounded up, it would generate approximately $500,000 to support our schools! Don't want to take your final exam? Don't miss school! Students are now given the opportunity to exempt their final exam in each of their classes. However, their grades AND their attendance will be the deciding factor. Students should think ahead and plan for the end of the semester - don't miss days you don't have to.
- A student who earns exemption status has the option to take the comprehensive final examination to raise the final grade average for the course.
- The comprehensive final examination grade will count 20% of the student's final grade.
- Absences due to approved school activities will not count against course attendance.
