DEARBORN STEM ACADEMY NEWS & NOTES

The Dearborn STEM Academy is a grades 6-12 Boston Public School supported by the Boston Plan for Excellence.
Our developing pathways are in Computer Science, Engineering, and the Health and Life Sciences.

Welcome to the Dearborn!
Wow! What a game changer. Last week Mayor Martin J. Walsh announced that all City of Boston students in grades 7 through 12 will receive free MBTA passes for next school year, the 2019-20 year! This is exciting and welcoming news for our students!
- On Monday, March 11th our free ESL classes for adults start for Dearborn families. The classes will run on Mondays and Wednesday from 4-6 pm. We hope to see you Monday afternoon!
- DSA Artists Club welcomes you all to a brief Artist's Reception for 8th grade student artist Justice Iovanna on Monday, March 11, from 4:00 to 4:40.
- As advertised above our next 11:30 am dismissal is this coming Wednesday, March 13th.
- On Friday, March 15th we will host our picture day at the Dearborn.
- Also on Friday, March 15th our theater program is holding a meeting and audition for anyone who wants to be in our spring show. Friday, 3-5 pm in the dance studio...be there! The program needs help with set design, lighting, props etc.

- Percentage of English learners meeting annual targets in order to be English proficient in six years
Chronic Absenteeism
- Percentage of students missing 10 percent or more of the days they were enrolled at a given school during a school year
Advanced Coursework Completion
- Percentage of 11th and 12th graders completing advanced coursework (Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, dual enrollment courses, and other selected rigorous courses)

Updates for high school students...
The Success Link through cityofboston.gov is now available for youth to sign up for summer jobs, ages 15-19, the Citywide Job Fair will be Saturday March 30 at Reggie Lewis Center, students must bring several copies of their resume.
All grade 9 students will be visiting various colleges on March 26 including Merrimack, Bridgewater State University and Stonehill College.
All grade 11 students will be attending the NACAC College Fair in early April.
