ECVI Connect
Let's take this journey together.
Personalized Skill Development and Social Connections for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Central Illinois
What's today's ECVI Connection?
You are OUR HERO!
Volunteers are often unsung heroes who impact people and the communities around them. Gina Carr is one of ECVI’s Heroes!
Gina volunteered for ECVI at a time when we needed her the most! We had just opened our new facility at 3240 Hedley Road in Springfield in the summer of 2018. Before students came in the door, Gina and friends painted the entire new facility. She hung wall paper in our kitchenette and provided much needed kitchen supplies at no cost to the Center. We were in much need of office supplies that Gina recognized and generously provided.
When we were ready for students, Gina began teaching Braille, Mobile Devices and other assistive technology devices that our students needed. We also worked on art projects together. Did I mention that Gina drove from Jacksonville to Springfield to fulfill her volunteer responsibilities?
Today, Gina enjoys working at the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired (ISVI) in their Library. Her love of Books, Braille and Assistive Technology is what keeps her busy. Although Gina is no longer volunteering for ECVI, we will always be grateful for the early work she did to help establish our new facility. Thank you Gina for all that you have done for our students at the Educational Center for the Visually Impaired. Your generous support is still being felt today!
