Dunn's Corners School
Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe
December 3, 2021
Good afternoon DCS!
This month, our schoolwide theme is emotion management. We will be prompting students to notice their own feelings by paying attention to clues in their bodies, and we’ll be reminding them to use their Second Step skills to calm down:
· Stop—Use your signal
· Name your feeling
· Calm down: Breathe, count, use positive self-talk
These skills help students calm down strong emotions when faced with learning and social challenges, which helps them succeed academically and get along well with others.
Second Step lessons specifically teach about calming down strong emotions such as anger, disappointment, frustration, and anxiety.
Please tell your child’s teacher if you have questions about how you can help your child learn to calm down at home.
RICAS student reports are being sent home today with fourth graders who took RICAS last year in grade 3.

Finally, remember to go directly to your child's teacher for any questions, concerns, positive feedback, or for information about the school day.

We will be using #dcsanchors all over social media. Look for it on twitter, Facebook, and Instagram!
Have a great weekend!

Westerly Police Helping Families in Need
As we start December, we have released our newest patch for a cause. December's patch is our first ever holiday patch. The men and women of the Westerly Police Department will be seen around town wearing our new patch on their uniform. All the money raised from the sale of this patch will be used to purchase toys for our annual toy drive for needy kids in our community this Christmas season. This patch is for sale for $15 each and can be ordered on our online store. Thank you to everyone who has helped make this a huge success.
