💭 Superintendent's Message
Dear Northfield School District Families:
Happy New Year! 🎉
Each new year offers new potential. In our school district, we continue working hard to prepare every student for lifelong success by developing critical thinkers who are curious and ready to engage in our society.
We value our partnership in pursuit of excellence for our students and community. As always, please reach out if you have any questions or feedback about the district.
Sincerely,
Matt

☎️ High School facility telephone survey
The district, in partnership with the Morris-Leatherman Company, will be conducting a random stratified sample telephone survey of 400 district residents beginning on Jan. 8. The district wants you to be aware of the telephone survey and encourages you to participate if you are invited as one of the randomly selected participants.
Why it’s important
Scientific survey data will help the board of education make a wise decision in what it asks the voters to consider, if anything, as part of a potential November 2024 bond referendum.
The details
The telephone survey will begin on Jan. 8, 2024.
The survey will include 400 Northfield school district residents. The margin of error is ±4.8%.
The caller ID will say Morris Leatherman Company and have either a (651) or (507) area code.
The survey consists of 35 multiple choice questions and is estimated to take between five and ten minutes.
Survey results will be presented at the Feb. 26 school board meeting.
Contact Matt Hillmann (mhillmann@northfieldschools.org) with any questions about the survey.
📋 High School tours and facility discussion
In addition to the telephone survey, the Northfield School Board continues to discuss the problems with the Northfield High School facility and will be considering how to address them. Previous district updates have highlighted the discussion and events held so far as part of that process. Here is what is coming up:
The next NHS tour is scheduled for Jan. 20 at 10 am. The tour will begin in the high school media center.
- A public meeting to seek feedback from district stakeholders will be held on Jan. 29, beginning at 6 pm in the high school auditorium.
❄️ Reminders: Winter Weather Decision Making and Alternate Bus Stops
It is a good time of year to refamiliarize yourself with the district’s decision-making process and plans in response to changes in our school schedule due to winter weather events.
Visit the district’s weather related disruptions and school closings webpage.
In 2023-24 Family Update No. 10, we shared information about alternate bus stops for rural students. Here is the information again:
Alternate stop bus cards for the more frequently utilized six (6) routes have been sent and should have been received by families.
There was a delay in sending the remaining bus cards before winter break. Those cards will be mailed to families next week.
Not all students will be receiving alternate stop bus cards. Only rural students will be assigned alternate stops.
