When it was found
It all started in 1917, when Charter granted wake county the chapter of the American Red Cross. During that time volunteers had made bedshirts for soldiers, gave service for troop trains and feeding stations.
What they do for familes
Disaster relief
Each year the Red cross responds to 70,000 natural and man made disasters. Response vehicles will circle around disaster areas, providing food, supplies and information.
They provide overnight shelter stays, relief items, and first aid treatment.
Health & Safety services
Red Cross gives you a skill and confidence on how to act in an emergency. American Red Cross offers tips and checklists to help you before, during and after an emergency.
International Services
Red cross has vaccinated more than 1.1 billion children against measles and rubella. Families have been separated by war or disasters. They are able to reconnect families.
