New Endeavor

Opportunity Knocks

As is with most things in life, change occurs with a mix of excitement, anticipation, and anxiety. I am flooded with all of these emotions as I am experiencing another change in my BCPS career. Many of you know that a principal appointment is my ultimate goal and as I work toward that goal, I need to learn and grow as much as possible so that I can be the best school leader that I possibly can be. With that said, I am transferring from Halstead Academy to serve as Assistant Principal at Sandy Plains Elementary School. While I have had a stellar mentor in Jen, unique opportunities exist at SPES for me to sharpen and hone my leadership skills, step out of my comfort zone, and utilize my instructional capabilities to their maximum. This move will afford me the opportunity to stand out as a leader!

It has been a pleasure to work with so many talented and dedicated people. Halstead has developed into a true professional learning community in which everyone supports one another and learns from each other, all with the best interests of our students foremost in mind. I have the utmost pride when I say that I am the assistant principal of Halstead Academy. I am proud of the difficult work that we do each and every day. I am proud of our students who have worked diligently to learn and grow. I am proud of our community who has united for the betterment of our students.

Thank you to everyone for opening your minds and hearts to me. The many chats, both educational and non, have inspired me, made me laugh, and made me admire your skill, talent, and growth as educators. I have learned from each and every person in this building. Because of you, my leadership skills and capacities have evolved and grown tremendously.

"I am where I am today because of the changes I have made."

I will miss everyone dearly but "It's a Small World After All" and our paths will cross again. (Hopefully many times as I expect to remain on the HH list!)
