Curriculum Design for the ARTS
Building Standards-Based Units and Lessons in Grades 6-12
The Southern Indiana Education Center is offering a 2-day professional learning opportunity for teachers of the arts: music, art, dance, and theater. The focus of these 2 days will be the new Indiana Fine Arts academic standards and developing solid units of instruction, including assessments, based on them.
Highlights for participants include:
- Digging deep into the new standards
- Prioritizing and unwrapping standards
- Mapping your school year
- Creating units of study that fit your needs (performances, etc.)
- Building quality assessments
- Content literacy in your classroom
This is a tremendous opportunity to learn as well as meet other directors, teachers, and arts leaders from the southwest Indiana region. DeAnne Taggart, a 21-year veteran fine arts educator and the SIEC Director of Professional Learning, is leading this interactive and current 2-day series for fine arts teachers in grades 6 through 12.
