Why High Quality Pre-K Matters
Curriculum Directors Meeting, March 27
Pre-K, kinder, first grades
Pre-k is so much more than coloring, playing, and learning to share. It is important that we neither underestimate their learning capacity nor the importance of hands-on learning. Small groups are crucial and often require the presence of two adults: one adult to teach the small groups and one to monitor and support the rest of the class engaged in guideline or TEK based learning centers.
The needs of our younger students are different than those of the older students. When you are planning your staff development, please consider separate, specialized training for your Pre-K, kinder, and first grade teachers.
