Norup Principal Weekly Newsletter
September 11, 2022
I hope you all had a great weekend and a great week last week. This past weekend was a whirlwind for me. We did our weekly Saturday trip to the Eastern Market and then went out to South Lyon for my nephew's 10th birthday, then we took him to Detroit for a night time boat ride on the river. Sunday was a bike ride to Ford Field for the Lions game (got a lot of text messages saying we made the TV broadcast).
We very much enjoyed welcoming all of the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade families who attended the curriculum nights last week. Our teachers remarked how much they enjoyed meeting with you and building community with you in this new format.
This week we hope to have many of you attend our PTSA meeting. The pandemic was particularly hard on ours and a very small group of parents kept it from collapsing entirely. We are also looking forward to welcoming Renee Catchings to our staff this week as our new categorical special education teacher. With Ms. Catchings' hire we are fully staffed for the time being and that is a tremendous relief.
As always thank you for choosing Norup; we appreciate you. Have a great week everyone!!

Homework Club - attention all parents
Homework Club will begin on Monday September 19 and will be held in the media center on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:30-4:30.
For those who are not familiar, Homework Club is a drop in time for students to do their homework. We do not take attendance for this as it is optional. Students need to be in homework club by 3:45 PM and it is closed after that (we had kids last year who went outside and played with their friends, then attempted to come in at 4:15 so they could tell their parents they attended). Students attending need to be working quietly on homework or reading quietly; it is not a socialization area or after school day care. Students who are disruptive will be removed.
