Achondroplasia

SYMPTOMS
- Abnormal bone growth
- Short stature with disproportionately short arms and legs, short fingers, a large head
- Prominent forehead
- Mid-face hypoplasia
CAUSES
The parents have result of a new gene alteration (mutation).
LONG TERM EFFECTS
People with achondroplasia usually have a short stature
SHORT TERM EFFECTS
People with achondroplasia live normal lives
POSIBLE TREATMENT OPTIONS
No treatment but should take measures to avoid obesity at an early age.
