First Grade Reminders:
GOOD NEWS! We have a new date for the Dallas Arboretum. Our new date is March 27, 2020. I know it's far away, so we'll reach back out after the new year for chaperones and lunch's.
Also, we are having a wonderful time reading all kinds of traditional tales in our new reading unit. I write to remind you of, and invite you to, our 1st grade Fairy Tale Ball on December 18th from 1:00-2:30 pm. You can RSVP here! We have 2 parents signed up so far.
Learners (and families!) are invited to dress up for this event. I want you to know that “fairy tale characters” includes not only princes and princesses, kings and queens, but also many other people and animals. For example, your child could dress as a frog from “Frog Prince,” a fish from “The Little Mermaid,” or a wolf or pig from “The 3 Little Pigs.” There are mice and a pumpkin in “Cinderella,” a grandma in “Red Riding Hood,” and bears in “Goldilocks and the 3 Bears.” Feel free to be creative!
School Reminders:
We will be taking the ENTIRE school on a field trip to see the new Frozen 2 movie on Thursday, December 19 (our class Winter Party day). Please send in $7 for your learners ticket. Please let me know if your learner will need to buy a sack lunch from the cafeteria on this day. Thank you!
We will be having an early release day on December 20th. All learners will be dismissed at 12:15. We will also have lunches in our spaces on December 20. Please let me know if your learners will be buying a sack lunch from the cafeteria on this day so that our cafeteria can place an order that meets our needs and not have left over food for the break. Thank you for your help! Here is the form to tell me.
Please download the CISD Mobile App. You can can view items like attendance, and lunch balances on the app.
Our garden guru Mrs. Keiko and the Compost Crew are collecting vegetable scraps and used coffee grounds EVERY FRIDAY for composting! Help support our garden by bringing your vegetable scraps to the cafeteria each Friday morning.
Holiday Assistance: The Coppell Lions Club provides holiday baskets and toys to needy families in Coppell's attendance area. If you and your family are in need this holiday season, please reach out to Angela Garvin by phone (214)496-7912 or email agarvin@coppellisd.com so that she can send home a confidential family input sheet. As always, if we can help with any additional resources, please don't hesitate to ask.
Check out our awesome specials team on their Specials website and 2nd Quarter Update showcasing what Big Idea, Essential Question, and Challenge our learners are choosing to be invested in for this round of Team Time!
Parents, thank you for being members of our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Please take a moment to check your PTO Membership Toolkit settings. We want to be mindful to protect your privacy, so if you have not adjusted your settings, you will want to review your Directory and Publish Preferences settings to ensure that unwanted personal information is not viewable to members.
Did you know that there is a new book about our school in the iTunes library? You can download it for free, here.
