Panther Post
January 29th - February 3rd
Hello Lopez Families,
We have a student who accomplished something outstanding. Alexander Yiannos's Reflections entry, The Journey Within, has advanced to state-level judging! This is a wonderful achievement as nearly 60,000 students participate in the program annually and less than 3% of those advance to Texas PTA. Final results will be announced on March 15 via the Texas PTA website. Amazing accomplishment from an amazing kid! Thats him pictured below. We are very proud!
We have had quite a few confirmed flu cases to start the year. I talked to the kids on the announcements about preventative measures but it will help to reinforce at home. Our custodial staff wipes down the desktops, handrails and door handles each night with a sanitizing solution and keeps the hand sanitizers in each room full. Please encourage your kids to use them. Also tell them to notify the teacher if it is empty. Please see the flier at the bottom of the page for more information.
Parents, don't forget to attend the David's Law presentation Tuesday at Reagan. It is a very informative presentation to address cyberbullying. Please see the flier below. It is for parents only. Reagan is also hosting their Electives Fair Monday night, see flier below.
On a side note, did anyone lose a fishing reel? There has been one in the lost and found for a while.
Have a wonderful week!
Sincerely,
Mr. Wernli

LEAD
Begin With the End in Mind. When students begin with the end in mind, they have a personal direction to guide their daily activities. Without some sort of direction, they may not accomplish what is needed. Beginning with the end in mind is part of the process of personal leadership, taking control of our own lives.
When you think about it, all things we do are created twice. Teens create them first in their minds, and then they work to bring them into physical existence. If teens would Visualize/write out the idea they would be taking the first step in controlling and being responsible for the outcome. Example: x to y by when. Run in the Autism Awareness Run--I will be able to run a 5k in under an hour by the Autism Awareness Run 2018 by exercising 30 min. 5 times a week.
Find time to Begin with the End in Mind- x to y by when
Upcoming 8th Grade Meetings
Dear 8th grade parents, parking during electives fair at Reagan will be limited to the student parking areas (pink and blue lots) which will require a bit of a walk. We are most sorry for the inconvenience. The Reagan Theatre Department is currently in their last stages of rehearsal for the musical production, Oklahoma. The production involves many fine arts students who typically park in our COOP/silver lot, which is closest to the main entrance, thus our limited parking situation. Thank you for your patience and understanding and we look forward to your visit.
