Gifted Education Tuesdays (G.E.T. Sponsored by CDE)
Spend some of your Tuesday each month with fellow colleagues from around the state to focus on topics of importance to Gifted Education.
Healthy social and emotional development doesn’t always “just happen”. For many it is encouraged through a supportive, caring environment specifically designed to foster such growth. This session addresses the needs of gifted and talented students, 3-12,
whose social and emotional development may be qualitatively different from others their age. Step by step details will direct educators and professional support staff on how to effectively facilitate discussions.
Speaker: Terry Bradley

Legislative Day at the Capitol is Almost Here
Held the Thursday after Presidents' Day each February, Legislative Day allows students (grades 8 – 12) a unique opportunity to shadow a state legislator for the day. The application process opens the first week of January. There is also an adult component to the day, where gifted advocates have an opportunity to learn about current legislative initiatives that affect our gifted children.
Registration for students in 8th-12 grade is currently open for this amazing opportunity, and will close on January 30th.

SOAR with SENG (Annual Conference)
The SENG Conference Experience
Most conferences about giftedness focus primarily on educational issues. While they may include a few presentations about the social and emotional development and needs of gifted people and the challenges facing the gifted population, these presentations play a minor role.
SENG conferences reverse the priorities. We believe that recognizing, understanding, and accepting the social and emotional needs of this population are the first priorities for teachers, parents, and counselors. SENG supports strong gifted education programs, but we believe the emotional piece is the foundation for the development of healthy, happy, well-adjusted, appropriately educated, and contributing gifted members of society.
The 2015 theme is SOAR with SENG and we hope you will join us in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Denver to help us SOAR! Here is a sampling of the types of presentations you will find:
- Social-Emotional Needs/Overexcitabilities
- Gifted Adults/Gifted Elders Initiative
- Diversity
- Parenting/Families
- Counseling
- Twice Exceptional
- Home School
- Outliers Among Outliers
