"WRITES OF SPRING" CONTEST WINNERS ANNOUNCED

The Lafayette Public Library is pleased to announce the winners of the Writes of Spring writing contest. Contest winners along with friends and family are invited to an awards ceremony and reception at the South Regional Library.


The Elementary and Middle School awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 2nd at 10:00 a.m. and we are proud to announce that the following SPES students will be among those recognized as winners!


Madden Richard who placed 2nd in K-2 poetry with "All About the Fun Days"

Ian Eldredge who placed 2nd in 7-8 poetry with "Gulf Stream"

Andrew Comeaux who placed 3rd in 7-8 fiction with "My Ghost Story"

4-H Achievement Day Results - SPES Student Shines

At this year's 4-H Achievement Day, SPES student Emily Lanie once again represented the school proudly and brought home a list of honors including:
Healthy Living Illustrated talk - 1st place, Healthy Living Public
Speaking - 1st place, Healthy Living Exhibit - 1st place, Healthy
Living Lessons Test- 3rd, Consumer Decision making - 2nd place,
Consumer Foods judging -3rd place, horticulture ID - blue ribbon.
She also entered an exhibition item in the Lafayette Parish 4-H Fashion
Show and it was given a rating of Excellent!

Emily is well-known and respected on the 4-H circuit in the Lafayette area and beyond. She serves on the Lafayette Parish 4-H Horse Advisory Board as a result
of winning the premier exhibitor award at the 4-H Horse Shows.
