PTSD is a type of anxiety disorder. This can happen at any age and can occur in events like assault, car accidents, domestic abuse, natural disasters, prison stay, sexual assault, terrorism, and war. Military families and children of military families can struggle with PTSD as a result of a family member's deployment or the death of a family member on active duty. Research shows that about 5% of Americans more than thirteen million people suffer from PTSD at any given moment. This ties into the book by Haley's father was in the war and he has flashbacks to the war when he was in action.
