From The Principal
Those of you who were able to come along and cheer on our runners at the Domain this week would have no doubt been impressed by the many feats of endurance and determination on display.
I'd like to congratulate all the participants on a great run, with thanks to the staff and parents who helped organise and manage the event. Congratulations also go to our outstanding place-getters in each event, with the top placings progressing to represent the school at zones next week.
It was great to hear so many children feeling positive about achieving the goal they had trained for, with the level of support and encouragement they showed to each other serving as a perfect example of our school Touchstones in action.
Next week, we also celebrate Matariki, which you are warmly invited to attend if you are able to. This will be a unique chance to spend time with the class and enjoy activities that we hope will help celebrate themes of connection, reflection and looking ahead to new opportunities together. Please RSVP to your child's teacher if you can make it and note that we require parents to wear a face-mask when indoors as per our current health and safety protocols.
As I'm sure everyone is well aware, Matariki becomes a public holiday this year, with school closed on Friday, 24th June. Please also see below for some other important updates and reminders at this busy point in the term, including BOT Elections, Enviro Team and Student Council.

The Chip Packet Project
The Student Council is supporting ‘The Chip Packet Project’ this year. We are collecting empty chip packets that will be made into blankets for the homeless or those in cold housing. We are helping people who don't have homes, shelters, or warm blankets. The Chip Packet Project needs to make 30,000 blankets this year. To find out more visit: https://www.facebook.com/chippacketprojectnz
The Chip packet Project is all about rethinking foil. The single bed-size “survival sheet” is a replica of a thermal foil blanket, which is commonly used to keep a person’s body temperature up in emergency situations. We are taking something that would otherwise go into landfill and take at least 80 years to decompose and turning it into a valuable resource.
We need your help! Please send us your empty chip packets. It would help us a lot if you wash the packet before sending it to school. We prefer the big size packets but you can still give us any shape or size packets. Maybe you could collect from your neighbours too.
Thanks for helping the Student Council and the Chip Packet Project!

BOT Election June 16
SchooI Board Parent Election 2022
Nomination round
We previously advertised that 5 vacancies would be called for the forthcoming School Board election . It is in fact 7 vacancies and our advertisement as under reflects that.
Our school will be undertaking a parent election for 7 School Board vacancies. This process will start with the issuing of nomination papers to our caregiver community by Friday 15th July 2022.
We have employed CES to undertake the election process on our behalf. This year with legislative change, our nomination form and full instruction on how to place your nomination into our own School’s Election website will be emailed to you if we have your email address in our database or you will receive it by post if we don’t have your email in our database.
Nomination papers will also be available at the school office. The school will send those on to CES for processing upon receipt from candidates.
Nominations close on Wednesday 3rd August at 12 noon. Election day is Wednesday 7th September.
We look forward to your participation in this process.

Support our school by eating a delicious Roast at The Bridgman.
Seems too easy but $10 of every kids meal goes directly to our school funds. All you need to do is book your table and put MENPS into the ‘requests’ box and they will donate the profits of your kids meals back to the school.
Easy right?
Just book here - The Bridgman | Corner of Dominion & Valley Roads | Carefully curated food, drinks & cocktails.
