This week students are continuing to study energy and forces. We will be investigating magnetism and patterns of movement! I will be at a conference Thursday (11/5) and Friday (11/6) - there will be no live zoom classes on these days. Students will need to complete all work assigned in Schoology. This week we will be working on making inferences while we read. We will be working on story structure with beginning, middle, and end using a plot diagram. We will be spelling words with the k, ck sounds. Students should be reading for at least 20 minutes each day! --Ms. Brown
This week we will be learning the long A patterns (ai, ay, a-e). Our story of the week is “A Crow, a Lion, and a Mouse! Oh My!” We will focus on story structure and making mental images. For writing, we will learn our verbs in past, present, and future tense. Be ready for a quiz on the story and weekly assessment on Friday! -Ms. B.Martinez

This week students are continuing to study electricity - conductors, insulators, and circuits. We will be making real-world connections on how we use them in our daily lives. We are still working through our division unit. This week we will be solving one-step and multi-step division problems. -Ms. McCaig
5th Grade
We have been working on pulling out text evidence from a passage and answering questions using our reading and test strategies. We have been studying writing a narrative essay and answering a STAAR writing prompt while staying on topic and following the proper structure of an essay with punctuation, capitalization, and proper grammar. We have also been working in writing on identifying the proper use of homophones such as you, you're, there, their and they're in a sentence. We will be taking our CBA (Curriculum Based Assessment) this week on Thursday. Progress reports are coming out very soon, please make sure your student has all missing work caught up, that they are attending classes with their camera on, and coming to class on time. We have covered the procedure every week of how to check for missing work by going to my course and clicking on the grades tab on the left-hand side of the page. We are moving along in our fraction unit. We will be adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers with unlike denominators. We'll use online fraction strips but also use the mathematical methods learned in class. Please check to make sure your child is completing all assignments in Schoology. Don't forget ALEKS as well as each child needs 10 topics each week.
