Title I Survey

Kingston Elementary School receives federal funding through Title I. A copy of the School wide and Parenting plan can be reviewed in our Guidance department, room 105. We need your help in evaluating the Title I program for the 2018-19 school year. Please take a few minutes and complete the survey below.

Parents are offered the opportunity to make suggestions or ask questions about our Title I program. If you have additional comments or suggestions, please contact Martina Moore, Title I coordinator by phone at (843)365-8259, or by email at

Talkin’ Trash (TT) is a school recycling and waste diversion competition that encourages elementary schools to engage in waste reduction, recycling, composting, and waste management practices. Every month, the top three winning schools will receive a plaque, supplies for their school, a recycled content prize for each 4th grader, and a visit from the Talkin' Trash crew! The students will also get a chance to appear on television. This is a school-wide effort to collect as much recyclables as possible.

As a school incentive to ALL students, each student will receive a treat and an R-card for every 13 gallon bag filled with recyclables. These recyclables include the following items: plastic bottles or jugs and aluminum cans. Please be sure to write the student's name along with his / her homeroom teacher's name on the bag.

Thanks in advance for your participation!

Music & Chorus News

KES Chorus will meet every week on Tuesdays, 2:30-3:00 pm. Students must be picked up at 3:00 pm. Students not picked up at 3:00 pm will be sent to our after school care, Kid Power, at a drop in rate of $12.

3rd grade reminder.....Don't forget to bring your recorders to school on the day you have music!

Let's show our school spirit!

Students are encouraged to wear school colors or Kingston T-shirts every Friday. School colors are blue and white. Wearing school colors each week is a proactive way of reminding students to maintain our safe and caring school. Each class that has at least 50% or more students wearing school colors will have their class name entered in a drawing. Two classes will win the Cool Cat sign to be placed on their door for the week, as well as some type of incentive (candy, ice cream, chips, etc). Each week we hope to choose a different class. Please encourage your child to participate in Spirit Day every Friday!

Congratulations to Mrs. April King's 2nd grade class and Miss Ashley King's 3rd grade class for being our winners last week!

Mrs. Moore's Counselor Corner

Resourcefulness is… the ability to find answers to questions using the resources available; finding creative solutions to problems.

A resourceful person seeks answers to his/her questions by using his/her surroundings, prior knowledge, etc. A person with a resourceful attitude does not give up until he/she finds an answer. A resourceful person does not wait for someone to handle things for them. Resourceful people are busy, finding what they need in their environment.

What can parents do to help their children develop a greater sense of resourcefulness?

· Teach students to actively seek and find answers to questions

· Remind students to check the classroom to find a word to help with spelling

· Remind students to reread the directions

· Teach students that remembering something they used previously will help with a future similar situation

Happy New Year! Please let me know if there’s anything I can do to help your child this year!
