KCSD Online Elementary
Sept. 3 update for families of online students
September 3, 2020
Dear families of KCSD Elementary Online students:
It’s been a very busy week as we finalize the last details to launch KCSD Elementary Online. Again, thank you for your patience.
So what’s next? Tomorrow our teachers will be able to see their student rosters and all their classes. They will start calling parents on Tuesday, Sept. 8 and will have connected with everyone by Wednesday, Sept. 9. When they call, they will update all contact information and learn more about your student and your family’s needs -- including making sure that you have a device or have picked one up from your resident school. We are very close to being able to get your student’s academic learning underway!
Our teachers are very eager to meet their new students. They are all experienced, certified KCSD teachers and will work with your child to appropriately pace the curriculum, provide needed supports, and grade your student – they will ensure that your student is making adequate progress in his or her learning.
Working with Pearson Connexus has confirmed for me that we have made the right choice in using their elementary curriculum. Pearson is a leader in providing excellent curriculum across the nation, and I am confident that elementary students will be well prepared in their online classes to rejoin their resident school when the time is right for you and your family.
While we won’t hit our target for academic learning to begin on Sept. 8, we will be very close. I appreciate your eagerness to begin your child’s learning. Our KCSD Elementary Online team is working tirelessly to get our newest program launched. Please bear with us a little longer!
Respectfully,
Jennifer Cole
