Weekly Update
Monday October 31, 2022
From the Principal's Desk
Greetings CLRES Team!
This is our last week of the first quarter. As we prepare for grading, please be sure your grades represent a balance between independent, classwork, and assessments. Additionally, be sure you have at least 16 grades ( 2 grades, per week, per content) for subjects taught daily. All other subjects should have at least 8 grades (1 grade per week).
Quarters 2 and 3 are about being focused and intentional. By this time, we should have well-established routines and a strong understanding of our students. We have concluded all BOY assessments and so we should also know the academic strengths and weaknesses of our students. As we head into the 2nd quarter, it is time for us to really put the pedal to the metal. How are you using your data to drive instruction? How are you being purposeful about daily intervention? How are you utilizing small groups to differentiate learning? How are you maximizing instructional time? How are you structuring your questioning to push students' thinking? Who is doing the heavy lifitng, you or your students?
Let's make it a great week, on purpose.
Dr. Dunn

Asynchronous Virtual Instruction Day
- Asynchronous instruction should be designed for students to work independently and be reflective of balanced instruction including a variety of teacher assigned curriculum aligned assignments either electronically using the district LMS or paper based task.
- Because November 7 is a half day of school, learning plans should be given to students for only the first two content areas of an elementary school schedule. Assignments should be provided to students by the start of the school day, Monday, November 7, 2022.
- For students who do not have devices, paper assignments should be provided on Friday, November 4th.
Attendance Procedures
Students should be marked as present or absent in SchoolMAX, consistent with all other instructional days. The absence code TC can be entered for students who have communicated technical challenges. Enter absence code 20 for unknown absences.
- Canvas Learning Management System (preferred method) (See Guidance Document)
- For staff members not yet fully comfortable using Canvas, a Google form template may be used for attendance.
- Additionally, for classrooms utilizing paper-based asynchronous learning tasks, student completion of their learning assignments may also be used as documentation of their attendance for asynchronous learning.
** Please note that Canvas will become the primary method for communicating and submitting virtual instructional assignments as well as confirming attendance on future asynchronous virtual instruction days, so we encourage you to utilize Canvas for November 7 if you are comfortable.
