Session 1
The purpose of this session is to orient the student to the course goals, expectations, and competency tasks.
Student Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this session, the student will:
- Describe the Competency Tasks, their purposes for educational leadership development in the planning and implementation process for change
- Use skills and strategies for dynamic group engagement
- Explain initial steps in brainstorming needs for systems-level change
- Reflect on processes modeled/used in class

Session 2
The purpose of this session is to understand why and how to effectively prepare for stakeholder input/decision-making meetings.

At the end of this session, the student will:
- Evaluate and select effective tools to plan for stakeholder input/decision-making meetings
- Understand various systems-level perspectives on educational issues
- Research processes for gathering multiple perspectives

Session 3
The purpose of this session is to provide a simulation for meeting facilitation and perceptual perspectives, as well as beginning the Action Plan by selecting a systems improvement strategy.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- At the end of this session, the student will:
- Facilitate a stakeholder meeting using TWO process tools to achieve the desired meeting goals
- Frame thinking around varying stakeholder perspectives through role play participation in team meetings
- Differentiate between systems improvement strategies
- Reflect on processes modeled/used in class

Session 4
The purpose of this session is to present strategic plan outlines to obtain peer feedback for revisions and to understand the purpose/differences of Goals, Objectives, and Tasks for the in-depth Strategic Plan (Action Plan).
Student Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this session, the student will:
- Present initial Continuous Improvement Strategic Plan Outline in small learning communities
- Use learning community feedback to refine and submit their Strategic Plan Outline
- Distinguish Goals, Objectives and Task as they relate to strategic planning
- Reflect on processes modeled/used in class

Session 5
The purpose of this session is to further refine and develop your strategic plans through reteaching and peer feedback and outlining a potential communication plan.
Student Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this session, the student will:
- Revise goals, objectives, and tasks based on participation in a House Redesign project simulation and revisiting initial strategic improvement plan
- Present revised plan goals, objectives, and tasks with peer one-on-one collaboration using "Inner-Outer Circles" protocol; Use peer feedback to further refine and submit the template
- Understand purposes and ways of communicating aspects of the strategic plan, including the preparation of the background information page
- Reflect on processes modeled/used in class

Session 6
The purpose of this session is to further refine and develop your strategic plans through consideration of objective resources beyond teacher PD and monitoring of goals.

At the end of this session, the student will:
- Explore resources for objective attainment, alignment and selection
- Explore and select a monitoring tool for each goal
- Obtain peer feedback on current plan progress and make revisions
- Reflect on processes modeled/used in class
Expert groups to brainstorm, find, and note respective resources
Diversified consultation groups to explore and select monitoring tools
Write and submit self- reflection and next steps to prepare for summit
Session 7
The purpose of this session is to present strategic action plans in a summit simulation and provide feedback to peers through the summit process.
Student Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this session, the student will:
- Present Strategic Action Plans in small groups (15 min)
- Provide feedback and ask coaching/clarifying questions to presenters at the end of the presentation (5 min)
- Reflect on strategic action plans and compile notes as a self-assessment of your presentation and plan
- Understand the written reflection component, Competency Task 1c (out of class assignment)
