What's Happening in 4th Grade!

Math

Students are expanding their geometry vocabulary! We learned that equilateral triangles have three equal sides, isosceles triangles have two equal sides, and scalene triangles have no equal sides. We have also been learning about symmetry and measuring area of shapes this week. Students are creating their own symmetrical designs and using pattern blocks to find the area. Keep your eyes open for shapes and symmetry in your environment!

Science

We are learning about meteorology in science! Students reviewed the water cycle and are learning about factors that affect weather such as humidity and air pressure. We are also learning to identify cirrus, cumulus, stratus, and cumulonimbus clouds. There are other various cloud combinations, but these four are the ones that students are responsible for knowing. Take a look outside and ask your child to tell you about the clouds!
