If you receive this immunization before the end of your Junior year, bring the documentation of receiving this immunization to the school nurse. Refer to the Park Hill High School Web Site NURSE SECTION for more detailed information.
1 dose (2-4 pills) of an over the counter medication can be carried with a student in the high school as long it is in a container that states what the medication is. Some medications that fall in this category are Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Midol etc. No medications are to be carried in baggies. NO PRESCRIPTION MEDS ARE TO BE CARRIED WITH A STUDENT UNLESS APPROVED BY THE SCHOOL NURSE. If you want the school nurse to administer medications to your student a Medication Guidelines and Authorization Form needs to be completed and the medication brought to the health room. This form can be found on the Park Hill High School Web Site NURSE SECTION.
Park Hill High School will be hosting an Immunization Clinic provided by Platte County Health Department on Thursday, April 9th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.. It is a pleasure to let you know that our A+ students have earned a total of 16,877 hours. I know that our Park Hill community is thankful for the volunteers from the A+ program because they tell me how wonderful our students are. Our students mentor and tutor at a number of activities throughout the year including:
Adventure Club/Prime Time
Also, there are several opportunities for students to volunteer in the summer through Adventure Club and as a summer school assistant at one of our elementary or middle schools. Students can see the available mentoring and tutoring hours in the A+ Schoology group or they can visit me in the A+ office where I can help them find hours that work in their schedule.
Seniors must have all A+ mentoring and tutoring hours turned in by May 1, 2020.
Benefits of Completing A+
2 years of FREE TUITION at any Missouri community college or technical school
Several 4-year universities offer their own A+ Recognition Scholarships
Looks great on college, scholarship, and job applications
Students have 4 years after graduation to use the A+ financial incentive
Students make a positive impact in our community by mentoring and tutoring other students
In order to complete the A+ program the state of Missouri has set up a list of requirements that includes
2.5 unweighted, cumulative GPA
95% cumulative attendance
Maintain good citizenship
Complete 50 hours of unpaid mentoring and/or tutoring within the district
The full list of requirements can be seen on the Park Hill High School website at https://phhs.parkhill.k12.mo.us/. Select the “About Our School” tab and it will direct you to the A+ webpage. Also, on the webpage seniors and their families can locate information about senior deadlines and the actions that need to be taken before graduation. The most urgent requirement to finish are finishing up the 50 mentoring/tutoring hours and applying for FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). FAFSA must be completed before A+ funds can be awarded.
To get involved in the program, students can visit Mrs. Reys in the A+ office for an enrollment form and to sign up for an A+ Workshop where they will learn more about the program and how to successfully complete all requirements before graduation.
