Principal Corner
This has been a rough two weeks. With the transition to the Dual Learning Models, we have all experienced a great deal of change and frustration. Schedules have changed, teachers have changed, and some learning models have changed. Now that the Term 1 grades have been posted by the district, our administrative and counseling teams can go into the Skyward system and "inactivate" any T1 class that is no longer active. Once this occurs, our schedules will look much cleaner. Time is also needed for the Teams platform to populate the T2 classes. This is not something that we can hurry, as Teams is a third party vendor. However, teachers do not need a Team to conduct an online class, they are able to send out email invitations to students and we have reviewed this process with the teachers. I'd like to acknowledge and apologize for the delays and interruptions. Our goal is that this will not occur to this magnitude for the T3 grading period in January.
I have spoken to several parents about making a change to their student's Learning Model. Either requesting to move from online to F2F or from F2F to online. It is vitally important that all communication being sent from FBISD and myself is read, as it contains important information and deadlines for FBISD events and activities. One of these deadlines was that all families needed to select if their child was going to continue online or return to F2F. There were two deadlines in September that were given. The campus then used these numbers to create classes based on the parent's responses. At this time, the timeline to make any change has passed. The next opportunity to make a change will be in November, which will take effect in January. It is very important that if I was not able to grant your request, that you meet the deadline for the next learning model change.
October is National Principal Month and I'd like to take this opportunity to acknowledge all the hard work and dedication our Administrators provide to the campus. They have worked tirelessly to identify, plan, and implement the safety protocols needed to return students and staff to campus. As the building Principal, I rely on Mrs. Brooks, Mr. Cousin, Mr. Morrow, and Mrs. Phillips on a daily basis and they never disappoint. Thank you for your dedication to our Warriors and our Warrior families.
Thank you very much for your support, understanding and flexibility as we work to provide the best learning environment during a pandemic. I understand that it is a stressful time and I appreciate your support. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Ms. Cortez

Ren 360 Parent Reports
Fort Bend ISD utilizes Renaissance Star 360 (Ren 360), a universal screener, to identify the strengths and growth areas of individual students. Ren 360 is a short, computer-adaptive assessment given to students in grades K-10 three times a year in September, January, and April. Over time, the data from the screener allows campus teachers, specialists, and administrators to examine the effectiveness of classroom instruction and to monitor student growth.
If your child has taken one or more of these assessments, you can now view the results in Skyward by accessing the Ren 360 Parent Score Report in Family Access. Included with this letter is a job aid that provides the steps to access this report. If you would prefer a paper copy of the score report, please notify the campus.
Please see below for the official letter and job aides for understanding the reports.
Student Wellness Survey - Needed Daily
Parents are required to complete the Daily Wellness Screening before the student reports to school each morning to ensure a faster check-in process. This form must be filled out each morning, and cannot be completed before midnight. Note: Secondary (middle and high school) students will have the option of completing the Daily Wellness Screener within Skyward, using their own Skyward credentials.
Once the Daily Wellness Screening is completed, the parent/guardian should initial the white student wellness chart, so the student can verify the completion of the wellness screening each day. If a parent refuses to complete the daily wellness screening, the student may be moved to an online student for the remainder of the semester, to protect the health of HBMS students and staff.
Mask Wearing Protocols
It is important that students take their masks home and wash them daily, to keep them safe for use. We appreciate your cooperation.
Support Warrior Athletics
You can support our athletics program by purchasing a basketball or soccer shirt for the upcoming seasons. Now is a great opportunity to update/expand the ‘school shirt’ wardrobe. You can also fully customize your shirt with any name and number for just $8 more.
The building feels a little colder this year, so you also have the opportunity to purchase an HBMS soft shell jacket in ‘Battleship Gray’ for $43.
See both flyers below. You can also email Quinton.Butler@fortbendisd.com for more information. Thank you for your support.
