The Curtiss SOC Seagull was a single-engine scout observation biplane aircraft from the U.S. This aircraft served on Battleships, cruisers, in a seaplane configuration. It was launched by a catapult. This plane delivered 258 SOC, SOC-1 through SOC-4. It would land relatively smooth on the water to protect the side of the vessel. It was a scout observation plane.

This aircraft was a single-engine mid-wing monoplane scout aircraft. The first time this plane took off was June 17, 1941. This plane could hold up to 1,000 lbs. of bombs. Also had two .30 in machine guns stationed on the sides as a further forward-firing guns. The aircraft only held two men/woman pilot and gunner. Its maximum speed is 274 mph. and its range is 1,675 mi.

This aircraft was the first military aircraft to be designed to fly at night. Also the first to use Radar. It held a crew of three and was armed with four 20 mm. All metal; twin engines. This plane was made to fly smoothly and quietly into enemy territory and bomb them without them knowing this aircraft would need to be able to fly within show 8 hour. So the maker of this plane realized it needed multiple engines.
U.S. Army Air Forces: Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress - Heavy Bomber.
This aircraft had four-engines and is a heavy bomber. Its job was to fly during the day for precision strategic bombing against German military targets. This was a weapon in the sky. It could have excessive damage and still get the job done and return to base safe. Its top speed was 200 mph. and running 10 hours a day with an altitude of 10,000ft.
