ESC TODAY is published twice a month on the first and third Wednesdays throughout the school year except during holidays and summer break.
2017 STEAM Carnival DFW, October 23-25
Although tickets for schools to attend the STEAM Carnival at ESC Region 11 sold out within the first 24 hours, you and your students can still attend by entering the Student Showcase. Act quickly to ensure your spot at the Carnival, as only 120 submissions will be accepted to present at the event this year. Region 11 Advanced Academics and Gifted Education Advisory Committee Meeting
November 6, 9 am.–12 noon
Administrators, Counselors, GT Directors, GT Coordinators, and GT Specialists - mark this date on your calendar to receive updates from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and other organizations. Those attending will have an opportunity to provide feedback on advanced academics and GT programming at ESC Region 11, as well as input on districts' needs in those areas.

Texas Summit Series with George Couros and Kevin Kush set for November
ESC Region 11 is excited to partner with HUMANeX Ventures to offer the Texas Summit Series, December 6-7, featuring George Couros, author and leadership coach, and Kevin Kush, superintendent, author and motivational coach. With so many people in a district who need to grow as motivators, team builders, and leaders, we are inviting superintendents, central office administrators, HR directors, campus administrators, athletic directors, special education directors, or anyone else aspiring to become a leader.

Learning Opportunities for YOU at ESC Region 11
Connect2Texas: FREE Virtual Connections
Virtual connections can break down barriers of time, distance, and expense by connecting people around the world in real time. Did you know that “connecting” to Connect2Texas providers through ESC Region 11 is free? ESC Region 11 currently supports 18 Texas-based providers that offer K-12 content enhancement programs.
Programs from these providers are available to any school that wants to connect and participate. Connect2Texas has more than 300 programs in the areas of science, math, social studies, language arts, and art. Many programs are cross-curricular and align with state standards.

Technology Services Hosts Blackboard User Group Meeting on October 18
The first Blackboard User Group meeting of the school year will be held at ESC Region 11 on October 18, 9 a.m.-12 noon. If you are a leader in your district in the use of Blackboard products, especially the Web Community Manager (Schoolwires), Mobile Communications App (ParentLink), Mass Notifications (Connect), and the Social Media Manager (Sociability), this is an opportunity to network with others and exchange ideas, discuss best practices, and learn about new products (Blackboard Ally).
After the provided lunch, the meeting's focus will shift to teaching and learning for those who utilize other BlackBoard products with topics to include Blackboard Learn, Path to SaaS, the new Blackboard Collaborate and dual deployment option, Accessibility, and an introduction to Blackboard Ally.
