Cultural Awareness Action Team

The Cultural Awareness Action Team, CAAT, would like to stretch out a helping hand to any students seeking support, guidance, or dialogue on the topic of race or ethnicity. We realize that the recent killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor have reminded our students of the racial inequality and discrimination that has plagued the African-American community. We have a diverse staff team, some are members of these groups who have been particularly impacted, and who are able to relate and identify with students' feelings on this topic. We have many staff who understand that white privilege is real and are willing to listen to students' feelings on this topic.

ODE Request for Parent Input (Link Below)

Achieving a proficient level on a state test has significant impact for students and families. As part of the review process, the Ohio Department of Education is seeking input from parents around the meaning of performance standards for their children as they progress in school and as they prepare for life beyond high school.

We are looking for parents to participate in six virtual discussion committees. Prevent Teen Prescription Abuse

Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic school was cancelled for more than 30 million children. Although some schools have slowly transitioned to hybrid models, many students still remain in virtual school likely with limited supervision or other undesirable factors. With many kids experiencing an unprecedented change in their routine it is not surprising that we have seen an increase in drug and alcohol abuse among minors. In this article by Know! they discuss how to properly store and dispose of prescription drugs in your home and have a meaningful conversation with your child. To read the full article click on this link.

Know! an online resource for parents, "gives parents and caregivers of middle and high school- age kids the education, tools, strategies, and empowerment they need to raise children who are alcohol, tobacco, and drug-free." We will be sharing some of their content in hopes that it can help our parents start up important conversations with their child.
