Scarecrow Champions!

Queen said it best... "We are the Champions My Friends, We are the Champions of the World!"

Congratulations Anderson Foxes! We won first place at the St. Charles Scarecrow Festival in the Club/School Category. We celebrated today at Anderson during our live zoom call morning announcements, and even our Spiderman came to offer congratulations.

Thank you to our PTO and the team who designed, built, displayed, and tore down the Super Fox. Thank you to all the families who showed up to Vote.

WALK BIKE & ROLL

International WALK TO SCHOOL DAY is a global event that involves communities from more than 40 countries walking and biking to school on the same day. It began in 1997 as a one-day event. Over time, this event has become part of a movement for year-round safe routes to school and a celebration – with record-breaking participation – each October. On Wednesday, October 12th, thousands of schools across America – from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico – participate every October.

At Anderson, we have a few different ways kids can participate in this fun and healthy event.

1. Kids can still ride the bus or get dropped off at school just like a normal day. We will have a short "track" set up for them to walk around our playground area before entering the school. We will have staff supervising and music playing!

2. Kids can walk/bike to school only if there is a safe passage. We do not want kids riding bikes or walking on streets that are not designed for foot traffic. We always encourage parents to walk along with them.

Don't forget...

If your child is going to miss school or arrive more than a 10 minutes minutes late, please make sure you call our attendance phone line at (331) 228-3300. All absences and reasons for absence are needed to be recorded, and your help in getting us this information is appreciated.

Families Needed to Decorate Their Trunks!

We are looking for mummies and daddies to decorate their trunks for our Trunk or Treat Event on Saturday, October 22nd. The event is from 1:00-3:00. Trunks can be set up between 11:30-1:00. You decorate your trunk and we supply the candy for kids. Let the Halloween spirit guide you as you decorate (check out Pinterest for some great ideas) Decorations should be appropriate for elementary students (please no blood and guts). There will be a Trunk decorating contest with a chance to win some awesome prizes! Students attending the event will vote for their favorite trunk. Winners will be announced at school following the event. Click here to register your vehicle. Deadline to register is Saturday, October 15th. Questions? Contact us at: ptosecretary.andersonfoxes@gmail.com

ALL are welcome to attend the event even if you are not decorating a car. We will have music, games, and a Spooky Trail to go along with the trick or treating. Everyone is encouraged to come dressed in costume. The event is free for families. Suggested donation is one bag of candy per family. Drop off your donation to the box in the office by Wednesday, October 19th. Thanks!

Halloween Costume Parade and Classroom Parties

PARADE

On Friday, Oct. 28th, (2:00-2:20 PM) Anderson will have a Costume Parade to celebrate all things fall and fun! If your child wants to wear a costume in our parade, they are welcome to bring a simple costume to school. Their teacher will give them time before the parade begins to change into the costume. Please keep all costumes simple enough that your child can put them on themselves. (Please no violent-themed costumes. No Blood/Guts... Remember we have younger students)

Parents/guardians, Grandparents are welcome to come to view the parade. The parade route will make its way outside to the back of the school. We will have cones set up marking the route.

CLASSROOM PARTY

Each classroom will celebrate all the hard work they have done since the start of school by having a party on Friday, Oct. 28th. (Approx: 2:20-2:50 PM). Each grade level and teacher may need parents helpers to plan, host, or simply help in the classroom for the party. See info from your child's teacher regarding their plans for the class party. We highly recommend that all students take their "normal" transportation home. This keeps our dismissal process smooth and safe for all kids.

NEED TO KNOW INFO:

  • Also, just a reminder, that all volunteers also need to bring a current driver's license or state ID in order to comply with the D303 Security Check before they enter the building.

Anderson Veterans Day Celebration

Anderson will be observing Veterans Day on Friday, November 11th. We invite our veterans to come to Anderson at 8:30 am to enjoy a school assembly and a small reception afterward with their families. We need your help! We would love to invite as many veterans as we can. Please complete this FORM if you have a veteran family member who can attend. We look forward to honoring their service.

Please fill out one form for each veteran attending. You can also call the main office at (331) 228-3300 to RSVP.

We know that not all the veterans in your family are able to attend our assembly. We would still like to give your child an opportunity to share about and honor the veterans they know. Please click HERE, print, and fill out the "Anderson Veteran of Honor" sheet. We will be proudly displaying these in our hallway and showcasing them at our assembly.

(Don't have a printer... no worries... we will be sending home copies with each student)
