New Online Reading Program - MyOn
Hoover City Schools has acquired a new reading and ebook program called MyOn. This program is for K-8th grade levels and has approximately 6,000 electronic books. Students may access the program through the Clever App available online under HCS Student Bookmarks on their Chromebooks. If students are logging in for the first time, they will be given an interest inventory and then a reading assessment. Once that is completed students can begin to check out the online books. There are many wonderful features offered through this new software program. Encourage your child to check it out.
Parents,
As we close out the 1st nine weeks grading period and our early Fall sports - volleyball, football and cross country - I want to express my gratitude for the way you support us in all that we do here at Bumpus. Each day I see dozens of parents throughout the building lending their support to various school events. The upcoming musical, High School Musical Jr., is another excellent example of our collaborative effort to achieve a common goal.
The Bumpus faculty and staff want to be equally supportive of you and our students. Please continue to let us know how we can be of assistance. You can expect emails to be returned within 24-48 hours and conference requests to be scheduled within a week. A scheduled time to sit down allows us all to make sure we can maximize the conference time by having the necessary documents and data. You should sign in at the front desk if you have scheduled a meeting with teachers or other personnel. If you need to see another teachers, you will need to call for an appointment. Please sign out when your single visit is over. Your administrative team is here to assist the students, parents and teachers where needed or requested.
We can accomplish great things when we work together. It’s the Bumpus Way!
SOCTOBER
Socks are needed for the homeless in the winter, but they’re one of the least commonly donated items. Help the BUCS Community Service Club by donating a spare pair of socks for our SOCTOBER event at Bumpus. All you need to do to participate is get your hands on a pair of socks (used is perfectly fine, as long as they’re clean and without holes!) and deposit them in the bin on your hall. Just about everyone has a spare pair laying around, and every sock counts!

Scholastic Book Fair Fundraiser
The library had a successful book fair. We sold $6,079.53 of merchandise and our school earned approximately 4,000 Scholastic points. I can use these points to purchase books and other materials for the Library through Scholastic. Thank you to Bumpus students, teachers, and parents for supporting the Scholastic Book Fair and for our great volunteers!

If you click on the green box that says "Optional Fees" on MySchoolFees (it looks like a heading but you can click on it), it brings up a page of optional fees. The yearbook is at the bottom of the list.
