Travel Survey

Emails went out to all families who indicated that either they would be traveling out-of-state or may travel out-of-state for Thanksgiving and Christmas. These families were given the quarantine information they are required to follow upon their return. Since this is a manageable number for our staff, we are able to remain open after each break!

Health Screening Update

Starting the week of November 16, we will begin screening students in the entryway of our school. Since families have been doing a great job screening before arrival, we are confident that we will not need parents to remain until after the screening has been conducted. HOWEVER. Please be sure your cell phone is ON and that you receive our call, should we need to ask you to return due to an elevated temp.

An Appeal from the Kitchen

Usually we want to avoid a sticky situation, but in this case we're looking for one...in the form of maple syrup! We're running low in the kitchen and in keeping with our tradition, we are making an appeal to our generous BJAMS community for donations of maple syrup. You can leave your sweet donation at drop off or pick up or even during the school day at the main entrance.

Thank you!

The kitchen will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Lamoille Community Food Share the week of November 9-13. We will have a collection box in the main lobby and students can drop off their contribution on the way to class in the morning. Thank you for helping us feed our neighbors!

Please remember to order Breakfast & Lunch through FACTS

It doesn't matter whether you order by the day, week, or month, but it matters greatly that you do! It is incredibly helpful to our kitchen staff to have accurate numbers for meal planning. Please order your child's meals in a responsible and timely manner. Did you know on any given day there are only three people preparing and delivering all these meals? Our kitchen crew may be small, but they are mighty and the task at hand - herculean!

Trunk or Treat was SPOOKTACULAR!

What a turn out! Trunk or Treat 2020 was a tremendous success and everyone had a blast! A big shout out to Rachael Grant (2nd & 4th grade mom) for her outstanding coordination efforts and to all the families that decorated a trunk. These pictures are worth a thousand words!

Wreath/Greenery Update

Families who ordered wreaths/greenery will be able to pick up their items on Saturday, November 21 from 10 am - 12 pm at the main entrance of the school. Please do your best to retrieve your items on this date during this timeframe. If you are not able to retrieve your items at the designated time, items may be retrieved the following week during drop-off/pick-up. Questions? Please email volunteer extraordinaire, Anna Roberts (William, grade 1) at: awhroberts@gmail.com.

*Masks must be worn and social distancing must be practiced when retrieving items.

Winter Wear

Remember appropriate gear is needed to stay warm both inside and outside of the classroom! We keep windows cracked to promote fresh air circulation, so some classrooms feel chilly. Please encourage your child to wear their school-approved sweatshirt or sweater.

Quarantine Info

If you have out-of-state visitors in your home (or a college student returning home from out-of-state) who come from a red or yellow county, they need to quarantine for 14 days (or the duration of their stay). This means they should:

  • Wear a mask in common spaces
  • Use a separate bathroom
  • Eat separately
  • Stay 6 feet apart and otherwise not be in close contact with other household members

Household members who are NOT under quarantine do not then also need to quarantine – meaning they can go to school, work, or the grocery store. However, be sure to disinfect commonly touched surfaces, and check yourself for symptoms for 14 days.

The same guidance applies to people living with Vermonters who leave the state to go visit a red or yellow county, and people living with close contacts.

If you are in quarantine, you have the option to get a PCR test after seven days. If you test negative and have no symptoms, you can end your quarantine. If you develop symptoms during quarantine, please consider getting tested.

For more information about all this, see these FAQS:

"The Seussification of Romeo and Juliet"

Fourteen seventh and eighth graders and three adults at Lamoille Union Middle School had a new adventure this fall. They cast, rehearsed, and performed a play... all on Zoom. "The Seussification of Romeo and Juliet" is a spoof of Shakespeare's classic tragedy. Now it's a comedy, with Seuss-like rhymes and language replacing the original text.

Tickets are now on sale for two online showings: Thursday, November 12 and Friday, November 13 at 7 PM. Tickets are $9 each. Each ticket has a unique access code and cannot be shared on more than one device. Visit ShowTix4U.com and search for "Lamoille."

For more information, look for Lamoille Union Theater Program on Facebook or Instagram, or email us at LamoilleTheater@luhs18.org.

Thank you for supporting the Lamoille Union Theater Program. You've never seen Shakespeare like this. We know you'll enjoy it... One Hundred Percent.
