National Hispanic Heritage Month
San Ramon Valley Unified School District recognizes September 15 - October 15 as National Hispanic Heritage Month. Hispanic and Latino Americans have made so many social, artistic, linguistic, and intellectual contributions to our society, the State of California, and our community. The California State Board of Education recognizes in its Multicultural Education Policy that each student needs an opportunity to understand the common humanity underlying all people.
During this month, all schools are directed to engage in activities to commemorate National Hispanic Heritage Month. For more information please click on the link below.
National Literacy Month
San Ramon Valley Unified School District recognizes the month of September as National Literacy Month. The schools of SRVUSD stand firmly committed to promoting reading as the catalyst for our students’ future academic, professional, and personal success. We are committed to providing the highest quality evidence-based instructional materials, screening and diagnostic tools, interventions, and supports so that every student becomes a proficient and engaged reader, writer, speaker, and listener.
SRVUSD encourages engagement with parents and caregivers so they can support literacy at home and enhance opportunities for exploration, fun, and in support of academic achievement. For more information please click the link below.

Country Club Elementary Safety Patrol
We are looking for an early riser parent who would like to run our Cougar Safety Patrol. Safety Patrol is open to 4th and 5th grade students only and usually consists of two teams that patrol every other week from 7:45am-8am. This job entails getting the club up and going and minimal meetings throughout the year to check in with the patrollers. Please email kcarl@srvusd.net if you would be interested in this awesome opportunity.
Elementary School Activities and Clubs During the School Day
SRVUSD is pleased to provide many options for Country Club Elementary School’s students to participate in various clubs and activities during the school day. Many of these voluntary extracurricular activities take place during lunch to be accessible for all students, allowing more kids to participate. SRVUSD tries to provide a variety of options to ensure that all students have the conditions to be successful and to be a part of safe and welcoming environments within their school communities. We look forward to providing additional school-day activity options as we grow our programming, and we will be in touch with details when we have new offerings.
Student participation in any club or activity is always voluntary. It is understood that if you do not submit an opt-out form, that permission has been granted for your student to participate in any and all in-school clubs and activities that they choose to join. See more information below on the opt-out form.
This school year, Country Club Elementary School is currently offering the following activities and/or clubs starting on October 12th:
- Library time (1st-5th) - Read a book, play games, puzzles, or drawing!
- Game Club (1st-5th) - Play board games with friends.
- Prism Club (4th-5th) - For members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community.
- Garden Club (1st-5th) - Learn about gardening through innovative and fun ways.
- Lego club (1st-5th) - We need donations of Lego for this club to happen! Please drop off Lego donations in the office.
Please review our communications/newsletters for all details about the school clubs and activities we offer. New activities or clubs may be offered during the school year. Continue to read our school newsletters and check our school website to learn more about them. If you need more details about any of our in-school club and activity options, please reach out.
Students are encouraged to participate in any activities or clubs of their choice, however, if you DO NOT want your child to participate in one or more clubs or activities, please complete this opt-out form (click here) no later than Oct. 4th. If you have multiple students in our school, please submit one form per child.
Again, if you would like more information about our club and activity options, or if you have any questions or concerns, please contact me directly at dglaser@srvusd.net.

Citizenship Awareness Month
San Ramon Valley Unified School District recognizes the month of September as Citizenship Awareness Month. It is important that our students understand the basic principles of democracy and what it means to be an American citizen. Young people can play a critical role in our democracy by helping to choose the people who will lead us and by voicing their opinions on the issues that are important to them.
Students are encouraged to participate in the democratic process through voter education programs and involvement in civic engagement activities. District schools are encouraged to celebrate Constitution Day on September 17 and participate in California High School Voter Education Weeks during the last two weeks of September. For more information click on the link below.
September is Attendance Awareness Month
Being at school is important for learning! When students are not at school or arrive tardy, they miss important instructional time. SRVUSD requires schools to send truancy letters for students that have 3 or more unexcused days of missing more than 30 minutes of school . Please note that if your student is ill for 10 day throughout the year, a doctor’s note is required for additional sick days.
School refusal: When a child won’t go to school.
Is your child missing school due to anxiety?

LCAP Committee Representatives
The District is launching the development of the 3-year Local Control Accountability Plan (2024 - 2027), a State required action and expenditure plan for educational programming aligned to state identified priorities. The committee membership will be composed of staff, students, parents and community members.
Recruitment for LCAP Committee Representatives is underway and will continue until 9/22. Representatives include staff (certificated and classified), parents, students and administrators. Next week we will launch the recruitment campaign on social media and post a message to our website.
Interested individuals should complete this brief survey. The committee will be limited to approximately 30 representatives. If interest is greater than available slots, selection will be based on ensuring a broad representation from across the district.
LCAP Committee meetings are scheduled for the following dates from 5:30 - 7:00 pm and committee members are expected to attend all meetings: October 24, 2023; December 5, 2023; January 23, 2024; March 19, 2024; May 7, 2024

Handbook Highlights
Our 23-24 updated version of our Family Handbook is available on our website. Click here to access it as well. In each newsletter, we will highlight a section of the handbook. We are also highlighting different sections of the handbook in the classroom and during lunchtime for students.
Our highlight for this week:
Bathrooms
● Students are encouraged to use the restrooms at recess and before and after school to
maximize class time, however they will always be allowed to use the restroom when
needed.
● Toilets and urinals must be flushed. After using the facilities, students are required to wash
hands with soap and water, and throw paper towels away in the trash cans.
● Bathrooms are not to be used as a play area or an opportunity to visit with friends. No standing on
the toilets or sinks. No writing on the walls.
Still time to Register your Student and Donate!
At the beginning of each year, we ask families to register their students through our school registration website, Future Fund. Click here to access the site. Click "registration" to start the registration process. Through this process, you can learn about the different programs at Country Club and make donations to support them. As a school, we do not publish a supply list. All teachers ordered supplies for students, so they all had what they needed from the first day. We can only do this with your donations! So far this year, we have received donations from less than half of our families. Please consider donating to ensure your students get the supplies and programs they need this year!
