Broken Arrow Weekly Update
Week of September 5-9
Next week is a busy week as we begin to facilitate our reading and math assessment screener, FastBridge. Students in Kindergarten and 1st grade will complete measures in reading and math in a 1 on 1 setting while our 2nd-5th graders with complete most measures on their iPad with one 1 on 1 measure given for oral reading fluency. These measures allow us to learn more about your student's strengths and needs in reading and math as we plan for how to make sure all students have a differentiated approach to their academic progress.
We will also be kicking off our first WORD OF THE MONTH with the new Social Emotional curriculum we are piloting as a building this year. Our word of the month for September is RESPECT. You can find more information about this program as well as grade level specific newsletters with activities and ideas for continuing the conversation about respect at home throughout this month.

My name is Jacob Lewis (Mr. Lewis to the kiddos) and I have been teaching Art at Broken Arrow for the past EIGHT YEARS!!! This is my ninth year, and I am so glad to be back, ready to help our students become confident, skilled artists that respect each other and show responsibility in the classroom. As always, we continue to try our best in art class, and when we make mistakes we try to learn from them, adapt, and grow as we become creative and expressive individuals!
