PARENT CONFERENCES FEB 11TH & 12TH - 1:00 PM - 4:00PM
Can you believe it Valentine days is just around the corner and so is parent conferences ( Feb 11th - 12th 1:00PM - 4:00PM.
At the U School, we expect parents to schedule an appointment with each student’s Possibilities Leader. Instead of parents spending a lot of time visiting every teacher, we will have a shorter (30 min), more personal conference for your young person to discuss their progress.

FINAL PUBLISHED COPY OF JACKIE ROBINSON ESSAY DUE. ON DEMAND TESTS.
Students BIG Audacious Performance Task was to write an informative (profile) essay about Jackie Robinson to inform and explain how Jackie Robinson used at least one of his nine values to change America.
Each essay should be at least 500 words long and not exceed 1,200 words in length. Each essay should cite 3 sources of evidence from Jackie Robinson’s biography or other related sources. Your essay will use the MLA citation style and include a Works Cited Page. The final published copy of essays are due Feb 6th.

Jackie Robinson or Malcolm X Integration vs. Separation?
In the coming weeks we will be starting a new unit and major performance task based on the Essential Question: Which leader , Jackie Robinson or Malcolm X had the most effective tactics and goals to address racial inequalities during the the civil rights movement?
When you do not complete the tests/ assignments you are missing out on earning competencies toward earning ENGLISH 1 credits.
All students will have an opportunity to enter the Scholastic Jackie Robinson Essay Contest for 9th graders.
