Lunchroom Helpers / Food Pantry Donations
DID YOU KNOW?
Instead of going in the trash, unopened packaged food from Osborne cafeteria is donated to the Sewickley Community Center. We need volunteers to help us collect and deliver the food.
Please contact Rachel Pelloni rachel.pelloni@gmail.com if you are available.Harvest Party
Osborne students participated in a costume parade and had classroom parties on October 28th.
This year, the principals established new guidelines specifically for PTA/HSA sponsored parties in the elementary buildings that take place during the school day. Elementary leaders hope that these guidelines will be helpful in party-planning as well as in creating a safe environment for all students to enjoy social time with classmates, games, crafts, and fun. The guidelines state that all students will be offered the same:
snack — prepackaged (such as Skinny Pop) or freshly popped popcorn prepared using specific non-allergen ingredients
beverage -- a choice of bottled water or apple juice as approved by the school nurse
Exceptions to these guidelines may only be granted by the school principal.
Homeroom coordinators are already working on planning the Valentine's parties. Look for details soon!
Recycle for Reading
Another Recycling for Reading event will take place in the spring. Donations are always accepted and volunteers are always needed to sort the books. Contact osbornehsa@gmail.com to volunteer.

UPCOMING HSA EVENTS
HSA OPEN MEETINGS
First grade Field Trip
At the end of this month, the entire first grade class will take a field trip to the Carnegie Museum of Natural History and visit the Native American Exploration exhibit. For some students, this is the first time they have visited the Museum. Students will get an opportunity to hold and see real life artifacts from the different Native American Tribes of the United States! The HSA was able to subsidize a large portion of the cost of this trip to keep parent contributions at a minimum.
LIBRARY DONATIONS
The HSA will organize a program where books can be purchased and gifted to teachers this year as Valentines!
Contact osbornehsa@gmail.com if you would like to help.
*Volunteer badge not required.
WINTER SERVICE PROJECT
The HSA has teamed up with the The Education Partnership http://www.theeducationpartnership.org/ for this year's Winter Service Project. The students will learn about children less fortunate through a short assembly and educational games. School supplies will be sorted and bookmarks and labels will be created by the students to help the students experience empathy and compassion during the holiday season.
