NEWS FROM DR. CHAUSSEE
A few parent reminders and updates…
As of today, we have two positive cases of covid-students in two different rooms so we have two classrooms that are wearing masks until 11/12.
When students get sick (not just covid) during the school day, the process is, or should be, they tell their teacher or some other adult. With few exceptions, they are sent to the health office where our CNA or health para determines the next step. A child may not make it to the health office due to an extremely minor problem. We have had some situations when a child communicates to a parent about being sick and no school adult is informed. We can not have this process. The health office must determine if a parent needs to be contacted. As one can imagine, there are some minor issues that can be dealt with at school such as a band aid placed on a minor cut and the band aid may be just a psychological help to make the child feel better and back to class. Please follow our protocols.
We had a successful United Way student drive. We raised over $3000 dollars in a short amount of time and we had the highest student total of all 25 MPS elementary schools. Great job and thanks to everyone for supporting the Omaha community.
Traffic flows best when everyone is patient and cooperative. I’ll be brief and to the point: If a parent needs a long goodbye with their child, do it in the parking lot, not in the drive where cars are waiting to drop off.
We have had a reminder in the Gator Tales almost weekly about students bringing water bottles to school. We will soon run out of disposable water bottles. We had many cases donated from HyVee who will not donate again until next semester. We have five bottle fillers around the school and we give away reusable water bottles.
