KASC Spring Academies
The Kentucky Association of School Councils is offering two spring academies in March at locations in Bowling Green and Lexington.
Constructed-response in the Classroom
Learn to apply quality of instruction with effective higher-level questioning to ensure your students’ engagement and increase of their knowledge.
This 3-hour session will cover:
- Importance of high expectations
- Rigor
- Instructional relevance
Higher-level Thinking and Learning – Closing the Gap For All Students
The research overwhelmingly supports that all students can learn at higher-levels.
This 3-hour session will cover:
- How to help students believe in themselves
- Specific strategies for keeping student thinking at high-levels through discussion and questioning as well as through classroom work and assessment
- Research-based strategies for reaching and teaching all students and closing the gap

Board policy allows up to the following amounts:
Breakfast: $10
Lunch: $15
Dinner: $25
For travel to high rate cities (such as Louisville or Chicago), meals will be reimbursed at the daily per diem rate established by the General Services Administration (GSA). You can find this rates at the following link: www.gsa.gov/perdiem
Detailed receipts should be turned in with the reimbursement form.
We cannot reimburse for extras, such as snacks or coffees.

Question about Student Growth Data and CIITS
2015 Kentucky Center Arts Integration Academies for June and July; DEADLINE TO APPLY: April 17th
Since 2000, the Kentucky Department of Education has partnered with the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts and KET to present Arts Academies and Arts Integration Academies. This summer The Kentucky Center will present four varied and exciting academies in several locations around the Commonwealth:
· Arts Academy in Corbin – June 15-19
· STEAM Academy in Murray – July 6-10
· Arts-Literacy Academy in Florence – July 20-24
· Arts-World Languages Academy (Chinese & Spanish) in Bowling Green – July 27-31
All four academies will take place on Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Teachers are expected to attend all five days. Each academy will accept up to 30 teachers.
Teachers attending the academies will receive hands-on, standards-aligned training and a $500 stipend ($100 per day). Teachers may elect to receive professional development credit as approved by their districts (6 hours per day) instead of stipends for some of these days. We do not have funding to cover transportation or lodging.
