Prestwick STEM Academy Model School 2018
Prestwick STEM Academy team was honored to represent LEISD at the 2018 Model School Conference this past week. Prestwick was one of 6 Model Middle Schools selected by the International Center for Educational Leadership (ILCE) that were asked to present. ICLE, authors of the Rigor Relevance and Learner Engagement framework, hosted a powerful conference where school leaders of all types from throughout the nation could share in plans to BE VISIONARY!
During our time at the Model Schools Conference, we also gained insight and tools for instructional leadership focus, supporting quad D learning for every student and shaping outstanding culture within our systems for learning. We enjoyed seeing and learning from our dear partners in innovation, Dr. Lowell Strike and Denise White
Our team including Christine Gibson, Marnie Richardson, Felipe Vargas, Manuel Castillo and Oscar Martinez engaged our audience in discussion during two sessions about our journey as a campus and innovative ways to kick off an initiative—be it STEM, project-based learning, or adding more rigor and relevance to everyday learning. We creatively explored ideas for building capacity among staff, garnering or sustaining community support, and working toward big, hairy, audacious goals (BHAGs) with a focus on meaningful and authentic work for each learner. Student work sample shared spoke for itself - our learners take control of their learning..
Our audience had these things to say about our session:
“Leaving with the tools to create a similar program in our school.”
“I loved the integration of technology and history. Both subject areas were equally intense, professional and serious. Often times we view technology integration as an event instead of a lifestyle. Thank you for sharing your work!”
“Dynamic team approach to presenting. Would want to be a student at your school. Shared beliefs and vision are evident. Love specific examples and videos. “
We are LOBO proud and our future is full of possibilities to BE VISIONARIES as we Engage, Equip and Empower our LEISD famiLE!

Dear Lobo FamiLE -
We hope you are having a nice summer break with your friends and families. As you prepare for a new school year, we wanted to notify you of the changes to cafeteria meal prices.
Little Elm ISD’s Child Nutrition Services will increase meal prices for the 2018-19 school year. The last increase to meal prices was three years ago.
Breakfast meals for the 2018-19 school year will be $1.75. (was $1.50)
Lunch meal prices for elementary students will be $2.75. (was $2.55)
Lunch meal prices for secondary students will be $3.00. (was $2.85)
The price increase only affects students who pay for their meals. Student who qualify for free or reduced-price meal plans will not be affected by the price increase.
Parents/guardians are encouraged to apply for meal benefits. The guidelines for income requirements change on a yearly basis. For anyone who feels they need to apply for free or reduced meal plans, visit the Child Nutrition Services web page.
>>Please note: 2017-2018 meal program recipients will carry over for the first 30 days of school. A new application must be submitted to continue for the upcoming school year.
