K-Beach Elementary School

A Message from Mrs. Van Slyke

What a wonderful time of year! It is so exciting to see the joy on the faces of our K-Beach students during this holiday season. They are looking forward to some extra time at home with their families.

This year, K-Beach Elementary continued our long history of honoring our veterans. Since 1998, we have hosted a Veterans Assembly on or around Veterans Day each year. It was important to us that we continue to recognize our veterans this year when having an assembly was not possible.

Our sixth-grade ensemble students worked hard to prepare a song recorded to honor our veterans. Please click here to enjoy!

Thanksgiving Baskets

We had a generous donation of 25 full Thanksgiving dinners from Operation Children First, a local organization. Thanks to Matt Brown and many local businesses and community members who were able to help provide Thanksgiving meals to families in need. A special thanks to Mrs. Tomrdle for organizing the Thanksgiving baskets for K-Beach!

Winter Gear Donation

Salamatof Native Association provided a very generous donation of winter gear for some of our students. Thank you for helping keep our students safe and warm during these cold winter months!

Site Council

Our Site Council is seeking parent members to help assist us in our decision-making. If you want to know more about site council or are interested in serving on it, please contact Mrs. Van Slyke.

A.L.I.C.E. Drill

We will be conducting an ALICE Drill on the morning of Friday, December 3rd. This is our opportunity to practice what to do in the event of an emergency situation, such as an intruder. Teachers will be talking to students ahead of time to prepare them for this drill. During the drill, it will be made clear that it is a practice drill and not a real emergency situation.

"Giving Thanks" Cornucopias

Mrs. Bybee's 4th graders made cornucopias for select staff members. The students wrote kind notes thanking these staff members for the things they do behind the scenes to keep our school running smoothly. Students gave thanks to our secretaries, student nutrition staff, nurse, and custodians!
