Main Parts
The main parts of the Skeletal System are Ribs, Shoulder Blade, Femur, Tibia, Backbone, Coccyx, Patella, Skull, Radius, Jawbone, and Collarbone.
Functions Of The Main Parts
Ribs- (Any of a series of curved bones, occuring in 12 pairs in humans, extending from the spine to or toward the breastbone and enclosing the chest cavity) Shoulder Blade- (Either of the two large flat bones, that forms the rear of the shoulder, the scapula) Femur- (The long bone of the leg between the knee and pelvis in humans; the thighbone) Tibia- (The system of bones that forms the main support of a vertebrate; the Spinal Column) Backbone- (A small triangular bone found at the base of the spinal column in humans and in tailless apes) Coccyx- (A small triangular bone found at the base of the spinal column in humans and tailless apes) Patella- (The small flat movable bone at the front of the knee) Skull- (The part of the skelaton that forms the framework of the head, consisting of the bones that protect the brain and the bones of the face) Radius- (A line segmant that joins the center of a circle with any point of its circumfrence) Jawbone- (One of the bones in which the teeth are set) Collarbone- (A bone that connects the breastbone and the shoulder blade )
Fun Facts
When you break a bone you can get a colorful cast that people can sign. There are 300 bones in a baby. There are 206 bones in a adult human.
Problems of the System
One problem of the Skeletal System is that if you get Osteoporosis your bones become weak.
